Sold Out in 2013

Sold Out in 2013

If you aren't fired up with enthusiasm, you'll be fired with enthusiasm.

Vincent Lombardi

Welcome to 2013. The beginning of a new year and a new page of my life. Actually I was going to write this yesterday but I was side tracked by a wonderful case of the stomach flu. And having just recently had spinal neck surgery, it has proved to be interesting.

Anyways, what I was going to say is that I had 2 things really hit me yesterday and the night before. On New Year’s Eve Dennis and I were listening to an Empower Network call. Dave & Dave were thinking back to the beginning of Empower Network. They were talking about the founding of Empower Network in a hotel room and how they were so excited they couldn’t stop talking about it and telling everyone they knew about it. It hit me that I didn’t have that kind of passion. Why wasn’t I that excited? Why wasn’t I “Fired Up” like Sam Crowley says. Hmmmm, no answer.

Then yesterday morning in my Scripture reading I was reading Romans 1 about Paul. Paul was drafted, so to speak, into service for Jesus. BUT Paul was also sold out for Jesus. No one had to prod him on. No one had to motive him to tell others about Jesus. He was on fire. He was passionate. Am I sold out for Jesus? I should be. Jesus gave his all for me and I can’t even get excited enough to tell others? There’s a problem here.

So, I started to notice a pattern. A lack of passion trend. I am 63 years old and I have lacked passion in my life for as long as I can remember. I can’t remember being on fire, sold out for anything. I have taken the easy path all my life. I have allowed things to happen by default. I had plenty of time yesterday to explore my life. I wanted to find a bleep of life somewhere along the line but I couldn’t. Definite character flaw that needs mending. I want to be on fire, passionate, sold out!!! If I am going to have anything to show at the end of my journey here on earth, I had better get off this flat line status.

Yes, I wrote my Goals for 2013, just like I do every year. But I realized that unless I am sold out to them, they are no better than words on a piece of paper. Lose weight – same goal, different year. I realized that if I had ever been on fire, sold out about it, I would have already accomplished it. No problem, hands down. Same with all my other goals. Without passion, the goals are no better than wishes or dreams. Chance of accomplishing them are nil.

So, my #1 goal/plan, whatever you want to call it is to develop passion. Get fired up! Become sold out!! BECAUSE until that happens, I am dead in the water. Not sure how this is going to be accomplished, but I will keep you posted.

So, hear’s to being Sold Out in ’13. I am on a MISSION!!!

Until next time,
Have a wonderful fired up day,

Imagination Part 2

Imagination Part 2

Imagination is such an important part of our being. Like I said yesterday we are all born with a healthy dose of imagination but over the years so much of it is squashed. In school we learn to conform to the norm and follow all the rules and answer all the questions by rote. Anything that has to do with creativity or imagination is deemed an elective and not worthy of being considered a “real” class. Hence, we get in the habit of not thinking. When was the last time you let your imagination go wild and thought outside the box. I know for me it has been forever. I don’t even know if I can allow myself “free think”. I have been so conditioned to fit in and attempt to have the right answer. I know my creative imagination is still there but it has shrunk to the point it isn’t able to be used. Napoleon says though that “It can be revived and made alert through use”, which is good to know, that’s for sure.

One of the most basic truths in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is that “ideas can be transmuted into cash through the power of definite purpose, plus definite plans.” Hard work alone just isn’t enough. It would be awesome if it was but it isn’t. There are millions of people working as hard as they can every day but just barely making ends meet, if at all. Napoleon says “Riches come, if they come at all, in response to definite demands, based upon the application of definite principles, and not by chance or luck.”

So the key to making the whole thing work is to start with an idea. Once you have the creative idea and nurture and grow it until it becomes a burning passion. After you have grown that idea into a passion you need to formulate it all into a definite plan with a definite purpose. Once you have the idea, passion, plan and purpose all in logical order and down on paper you are set to implement it, and are good to go.

For me my burning passion is to have a thriving internet business involving blogging. I have wanted to make money by blogging for years. Actually my burning desire has been to be in a position to travel, take pixs and write, and the writing has been narrowed down to blogging over the last couple years. I love to travel and see new places. I love to take pictures, and if I could have had a do over in life I would have become a photographer instead of an accountant.  AND write, write, write. Am I good at writing? Who knows, but I enjoy it a lot. I have written in my journal since I was in 6th grade. Same time I started having a passion for taking pictures. Go figure. So, this is my passion. Been my passion for almost as long as I can remember, and I plan to make my passion a reality in 2013.

The cool thing is that Empower Network is a blogging platform. One of the requirements for promoting Empower Network is to blog every day. One of the goals that I have set for 2013 has been to become an excellent blogger. I want to learn everything I can about blogging. What to blog, how to blog, how to promote my blog, any and everything to do with blogging. By this time next year I plan to know, really know how to blog. And Empower Network – pays to blog and promote their site. Sounds like a plan to me.

My guess is that you probably have a dream, a passion. Probably not mine but a burning one just the same. So, if you want to make your desire a reality, then Empower Network is the tool for you. It works, so just click on the link and get started. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Until next time. Have a fantastic day.

I Want to be a Photographer

I mentioned before that my passion is to travel, take pictures and write a book. OK – I still desire to do all those but have realized that my biggest passion is to be a photographer. I have loved taking pictures since I first got a camera back in ’62. I was always the one toting a camera along on adventures with my friends, picnics, school functions, etc. I was historian for numerous things, basically I just loved taking pictures. I have wanted to take classes in photography since the early ‘70s. It's ALWAYS been a passion. Tho I have always worried that if I tried to become a photographer and take pixs of people besides my family, that it would lose the “fun” aspect. I would have to please other people besides just myself. I don’t ever want to lose the joy of taking pixs. It is one thing that truly causes me pleasure. It is the one thing that gets me excited to get up and out of bed. The days I am taking pixs are my “happy” days. Sooooo, I have decided that when I grow up I want to be a photographer. It feels good to narrow down my dream and know where I want to head. I wrote a blog a while back about my love of photography. You can read it here if you would like.

Next Tuesday I take my 1st Photoshop class at TCTC. I am VERY excited. I took a digital photography class back in Spring of ’08 and had planned to take the Photoshop one in the Fall, but life happens. This is the next step in fulfilling my dream. I will keep you posted.
