How to FAIL as a Leader

How to FAIL as a Leader Part 1

Last night I wrote about Leadership and the 11 positive attributes of being a good leader. In reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill , he really lays it on the line what the qualities of a good and bad leader are. I know both types and have had both as bosses. Needless to say the ones who have the positive characteristics are much easier to work for and to be around. I personally don’t see why someone would choose be a negative leader unless they are just a negative, selfish person who is unhappy with the world. It doesn’t take any more energy to be positive than negative.

BUT if you really wanted to fail as a leader, Napoleon tells you how. He lists the 10 major causes of failure as a leader. Today I will cover the first 5 of them.

1. Inability to organize details. A successful leader is organized and capable of guiding the followers in every aspect of the project. He knows to the nth degree what needs to be done in order for the project to succeed. If you can’t organize or keep all the details of a project straight than how can you expect your followers to know what to accomplish. It would be like the blind leading the blind, hoping it somehow all works out. I have had bosses delegate yet have no clue what the end product looks like. I have also known bosses who can’t keep the day to day details of the business running smooth because they themselves aren’t organized enough to make sure B follows A.

2. Unwillingness to render humble service. A good leader does not mind getting down and dirty with the followers. A good leader never expects his followers to do something that he himself wouldn’t be willing to do. The scriptures say “The greatest among you shall be servant to all.” It is sad when you know that your boss feels something is beneath them yet they expect you to do it with a smile.

3. Expectation of pay for what they “know” instead of what they do with that which they know. The world does not pay people for their knowledge. There are a lot of people with a tremendous amount of knowledge doing nothing with their lives. A person has to take that knowledge, formulate it into a plan and do something with it before it becomes profitable. A person shouldn’t expect to just sit around in an office and just think with no production, and still get paid a leaders salary.

4. Fear of competition from followers. The leader who worries and frets that one of his underlings will come and take over and boot him out of a job will one day find his fears coming true. A leader needs to be secure in his leadership abilities, in his ability to motivate people to follow and do that which need to be done. Napoleon says “It’s an eternal truth that men receive more pay for their ability to get others to perform, than they could possibly earn by their own efforts.” If you are fretting about a hostile takeover then maybe you need to check your skills and see if you are truly the leader you think you are.

5. Lack of imagination. I wrote a few days ago about imagination. There is a true lack of creative imagination in today’s society. We have been trained not to freely think. But without imagination how can a leader fix a crisis or head off an emergency. A leader needs to be able to think outside the box. Otherwise you are going to be doing the same ole thing and getting the same ole results, and nothing changes.

My guess is that if you are reading this you just might want to be your own boss and leader. You are tired of being the follower and want to venture off and be the leader. I know that is the way I am. I am tired of having leaders who don’t care. Leaders who just want me to do the dirty work and get down and dirty with the clients. I don’t mind doing the dirty work. I don’t mind working hard. BUT I want to be my own boss. I want to be the one fine tuning the leadership skills. I want to be the one calling the shots. So, if this sounds like you. Tired of the 9 – 5 and negative bosses. Then you need to check out Empower Network. You need to take control of your life and be your own boss. Don’t let another day go by. You are already a day late.

Leadership

Leadership

Have you ever wanted to be a good leader? It is really hard to judge if you are a good one or not. In my life and I am sure in yours you have had good and bad bosses/leaders in your life. I am sure both the good and the bad think they are awesome leaders. So how do you really know?

Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich gives some good guide lines. As I was reading them this afternoon it was really easy to think of some people who fit the descriptions to a tee. If you are like me you enjoy working for and being around the “good” leader/ bosses and you can’t wait to find a new job when you have one of those who just don’t have the good leadership traits down.

Napoleon gives 11 attributes of good leadership.

1st is Unwavering courage based upon knowledge of self and one’s occupation. A good leader has awesome self confidence and courage. When a leader/boss has the confidence & courage to step up to the plate it makes it easy for the followers to follow. I know for me it makes a major difference when the leadership knows where they are going and have the courage and confidence to lead the way. I know I personally don’t want to follow someone who has no clue where they are headed.

2nd is Self Control. Bottom line is that if someone can’t control themselves, how can they even think about controlling or leading someone else?

3rd – A keen sense of Justice. Fairness and justice are so important for a leader to have. If you don’t feel that fairness, it is hard to get behind someone and follow. It would be hard to let your guard down and trust them enough to follow. I know I wouldn’t.

4th is Definiteness of Decision. I have had leader/bosses who change direction with the weather. You never know if the latest project is on or off because things change so often. It makes it hard to get behind someone or something when you aren’t sure it will be moving forward tomorrow. It makes me lose respect for someone who can’t hold fast to plans and decisions. Feels like they are flapping in the wind. NOT good.

5th - Definiteness of Plans. This one goes right along with #4. If you can’t make a definite decision than how can you have definite plans. And if you don’t have definite plans how can you accomplish anything. A successful leader must plan his work and work his plan. Reminds me of a person starting out on vacation and not having a clue which direction they are planning on traveling. They will never know when they get there that way.

6th is the habit of doing more than paid for. A leader should always be willing to do more than his followers. I have had bosses who literally do nothing. They crack the whip but don’t feel like they have pull their weight at all.

7th is a pleasing personality. A pleasing personality is something everyone should strive for. Who want to follow a grumpy butt. Leadership depends on respect and who can respect someone without a pleasing personality. Leaders and followers alike should be working on this one.

8th – Sympathy and understanding. A quality leader should have compassion for their followers and strive to understand their lives and struggles.

9th – Mastery of Detail. A leader needs to understand all the plans to the last detail. If they don’t know the details then how can they encourage and support the followers when they come upon a problem. Leaders need to understand things down to the most finite detail. Not just the big picture.

10th is Willingness to Assume Full Responsibility. Napoleon says “A successful leader must be willing to assume responsibility for the mistakes and shortcomings of his followers.” The leader is the buck stops here person.

11th is Cooperation. Leadership calls for power and power calls for cooperation.

As I go over all 11 of these characteristics, I know leaders who have them all and some who have none of them. As I strive to become a leader in Empower Network. I plan to keep these attributes at the forefront of my thinking. As I start leading, I can be successful and a good leader or I can fall on my face and be a failure. My goal is to be a total success.

Imagination Part 2

Imagination Part 2

Imagination is such an important part of our being. Like I said yesterday we are all born with a healthy dose of imagination but over the years so much of it is squashed. In school we learn to conform to the norm and follow all the rules and answer all the questions by rote. Anything that has to do with creativity or imagination is deemed an elective and not worthy of being considered a “real” class. Hence, we get in the habit of not thinking. When was the last time you let your imagination go wild and thought outside the box. I know for me it has been forever. I don’t even know if I can allow myself “free think”. I have been so conditioned to fit in and attempt to have the right answer. I know my creative imagination is still there but it has shrunk to the point it isn’t able to be used. Napoleon says though that “It can be revived and made alert through use”, which is good to know, that’s for sure.

One of the most basic truths in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is that “ideas can be transmuted into cash through the power of definite purpose, plus definite plans.” Hard work alone just isn’t enough. It would be awesome if it was but it isn’t. There are millions of people working as hard as they can every day but just barely making ends meet, if at all. Napoleon says “Riches come, if they come at all, in response to definite demands, based upon the application of definite principles, and not by chance or luck.”

So the key to making the whole thing work is to start with an idea. Once you have the creative idea and nurture and grow it until it becomes a burning passion. After you have grown that idea into a passion you need to formulate it all into a definite plan with a definite purpose. Once you have the idea, passion, plan and purpose all in logical order and down on paper you are set to implement it, and are good to go.

For me my burning passion is to have a thriving internet business involving blogging. I have wanted to make money by blogging for years. Actually my burning desire has been to be in a position to travel, take pixs and write, and the writing has been narrowed down to blogging over the last couple years. I love to travel and see new places. I love to take pictures, and if I could have had a do over in life I would have become a photographer instead of an accountant.  AND write, write, write. Am I good at writing? Who knows, but I enjoy it a lot. I have written in my journal since I was in 6th grade. Same time I started having a passion for taking pictures. Go figure. So, this is my passion. Been my passion for almost as long as I can remember, and I plan to make my passion a reality in 2013.

The cool thing is that Empower Network is a blogging platform. One of the requirements for promoting Empower Network is to blog every day. One of the goals that I have set for 2013 has been to become an excellent blogger. I want to learn everything I can about blogging. What to blog, how to blog, how to promote my blog, any and everything to do with blogging. By this time next year I plan to know, really know how to blog. And Empower Network – pays to blog and promote their site. Sounds like a plan to me.

My guess is that you probably have a dream, a passion. Probably not mine but a burning one just the same. So, if you want to make your desire a reality, then Empower Network is the tool for you. It works, so just click on the link and get started. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Until next time. Have a fantastic day.

Imagination

Imagination

I am still working my way through Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It has been a bit since I last wrote. Had cervical spinal surgery last week and have been on the mend since then. Surgery went well and I am obediently wearing my neck brace. Neck gets really tired and sore but then it’s only been a week so guess I should expect that. Before the surgery I had read and been prepared to write about Imagination, so have had plenty of time to think about the subject.

Imagination is the Workshop of the Mind and the 5th Step towards Riches. Imagination is something we are all born with, although as adults you wouldn’t tend to notice that we have any at all. There are 2 kinds of imagination, synthetic imagination and creative imagination. Synthetic imagination is the one people use most often. It is used when we arrange old concepts, ideas or plans into new combinations. It isn’t really coming up with anything new, just using the old, common things in a new way or for a new purpose. This is something we mostly all use all the time. Kind of like taking the familiar ingredients and making a new dish for dinner. New but not so much.

The creative imagination is different. It is much less prevalent. It is coming up with something no one has ever touched on or come up with before. Napoleon says “Through the faculty of creative imagination, the finite mind of man has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It is the faculty through which “hunches” and “inspirations” are received.” This is the type of imagination that most people wish to experience, but few actually do.

Like I said above I have been thinking about “imagination” for the last week. Everyone is born with a vivid imagination. BUT we go to school and learn to conform. We learn during our 1st art project that we are supposed to make things like everyone else. From day one we are forced into a cookie cutter mold that squashes any creative juices we have. We are told how and what to think, how to draw, how to color, how to do projects. Sure somewhere along the line we are allowed to do a “creative writing” assignment but even that is controlled and regulated. Kids start out before they enter school as wide eyed innocent beings. They come out years later from school as mass produced cookie cutter graduates. The only ones who still have any creative abilities are actually seen as rebels, the ones who didn’t conform to the norm. Unfortunately, those that didn’t fit in the mold usually ended up dropping out of school and people looking at them as failures. I just think it is wrong that we destroy the creative minds of our kids. We never know what their potential is or was. Sure we know if they can jump through the hoops and spit out the answers for the tests. THOSE are the successful students. It is just sad how many people have lost their ability to think and create, all in the name of education.

I know I was one of those who jumped through the hoops, spit out the “right” answers and got good grades. I lost my ability to “free think”. I was always too afraid to think outside the box and come up with something new. I was a people pleaser who wanted to fit in. Now I look back and wish I had been more of a rebel and able to think for myself. I don’t think the school systems realize what they are doing and how they have across the board hindered imagination.

OK – got off on a bit of a tangent. Tomorrow I will continue with Napoleon Hill and Imagination. But until then feel free to check out Empower Network. I am sure you will be pleased. Empower Network is helping to open my eyes and showing me there is a positive future waiting for me to just reach out and grab. No more cookie cutter life for me.

Enjoy,

Specialized Knowledge

Specialized Knowledge

The 4th Step toward Riches

I am still making my way through Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I am on the 5th chapter titled Specialized Knowledge. Napoleon says this is the 4th step in ones road towards riches. Just to remind you the:
1st step is Desire – The starting point of all achievement.
2nd – Faith – Visualization of, and belief in attainment of desire.
3rd – Autosuggestion – The medium for influencing the subconscious mind.
And now we are on the 4th Step – Specialized Knowledge – Personal Experiences or observations.

Napoleon says there are 2 types of knowledge, 1st is general knowledge. That is the most prevalent type. General knowledge is what you get in your regular education classes in public school or even your general education at the college level. The 2nd type is Specific Knowledge. This type is specialized, it has more power. It is focused on a specific topic and is more in depth than the general. I call it being laser focused.

Knowledge in and of itself will not attract money. It will only attract money if “it is organized, and intelligently directed, through practical plans of action, to the definite end of accumulation of money”. This is one of the problems most college students face. They go to college, work hard, earn good grades, get their diploma and end up flipping burgers at McDonalds. They had the false notion that the degree would bring money and it doesn’t.

I have always held the philosophy that college is a waste of money unless it is a means to an end. There are certain professions a person cannot attain unless they have a college degree, master, or higher. You can’t be a doctor, lawyer, school teacher, certified public accountant unless you have that piece of paper telling the world you have a specific specialize education. I personally have a degree in Accounting and I have passed the CPA exam. That would qualify me to work in a CPA firm and do Accounting if I so chose. I don’t, but I could. My daughter is a teacher, and that too required her to finish college and get her teaching certificate. BUT there are a lot of other professions that don’t require a college degree. A person could theoretically start at the bottom and work their way up. I am not saying not to go to college if you are of the mind set to, but if you are thinking it is your ticket to riches you will be terribly disappointed.

There are a lot of people who are going through life suffering from an “inferiority complex” because they are not men of education. The funny thing is that many of them are making tons of money. They know their field but don’t have that one piece of paper. It is really sad the way the world has placed so much value on something like a piece of paper.

Thomas Edison only had 3 months of formal schooling in his whole life and Henry Ford had less than a 6th grade education. Both of them excelled in their fields of expertise. Yet both of them had specific knowledge to help them accomplish what they were able to. Some of the richest people I know don’t have college degrees but have succeeded far beyond the norm.

I am an avid reader. I read a couple books a week. Not all are specific knowledge books but I am continually filling my mind with new material. Napoleon says that “the person who stops studying merely because he has finished school is forever hopelessly doomed to mediocrity, no matter what may be his calling. The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.”

This is one of the awesome things about Empower Network. They encourage daily learning. They have 8 core commitments and 2 of them have to do with learning. One is to read something every day and the other is to listen to a motivational audio. I love to learn. I can’t get enough. I love the wisdom and knowledge others in Empower Network impart to everyone. If you are interested in being a better person, I highly suggest continuous learning. One of the best ways I know of is to tap into all that Empower Network has to offer. Just click on the link and see all that they have to offer. I am sure you will be pleased.

Me, I am off to do some more reading.

Autosuggestion

Auto Suggestion

The Medium for influencing the Subconscious Mind

In reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill I have once again realized just how important my thoughts are. In his 3rd Chapter on Autosuggestion, Napoleon states that autosuggestion is plain and simple self-suggestion, another word for self talk.

If you are like me I engage in self talk all day long. Some of the self talk is positive and some of it isn’t. This self talk is what is totally influencing my life. Whatever is the dominating thought at the moment – that is what is being fed into my subconscious mind. My subconscious mind isn’t picky; it will accept the negative just as easily as the positive. Napoleon uses the idea of the mind being like a garden. Imagine a garden overrun with unsightly weeds. That is your subconscious mind being feed by negative thoughts. Now think about a garden filled with beautiful spring flowers, flowers of every color and vibrant with life. Visualize them swaying in the afternoon breeze and the sun shining down on you and the garden. That's the subconscious mind being feed by positive thoughts. It is our choice as to what we will think about. When you reflect on the past, do you choose to think of hurt and regret or do you remember the good times, the laughter, and the positive aspects of life. Every moment of every day is a choice. Do I want weeds or flowers? It is a simple choice but so, so hard to do.

Another aspect that Napoleon mentions repeatedly is that our thoughts need to be emotionalized with feeling. Just reading or writing something is never enough. I guess our subconscious mind doesn’t like a bland diet. He states that “You will get no appreciable results until you learn to reach your subconscious mind with thoughts or spoken words which have been well emotionalized with belief.” This makes sense to me. In the past when I have tried visualization and writing my desires, etc I just did the writing or thinking in a neutral sort of way. I never really felt a passion about anything I was writing or desiring. I guess I was basically just going through the motions. Napoleon says we need to really concentrate on our desire. We need to fix all our attention on the desire with our eyes closed. Concentrate until we can actually see the physical appearance of the object of our desire. We should do this at least once a day. This is something I have not done in the past. But you can be assured it will be something I plan to do from now on. I do have a burning desire, a passion, a definite chief aim/purpose in life. I can see it, feel it, taste it and touch it in my mind. I need to concentrate on it at least once every day with all the passion I can muster.

Do you have a passion, something you want to have, do or be? Is this something you want so bad you can hardly stand it. If so, autosuggestion might be a method you should use to help achieve it. One of the tools I am using to help achieve my dream/desire is Empower Network. Empower Network is helping LOTS of people achieve their dreams, and they are achieving them in record time. Faith

Faith allows things to happen. It is the power that comes from
a fearless heart. And when a fearless heart believes, miracles
happen.

I am still reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It is an awesome book with so many words of wisdom. Seems like I am learning something new on every page. The 3rd chapter is called Faith. So much good information.

I hadn’t thought that much about “Faith” before except in the Spiritual realm. When I think of faith I think of the scripture Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things unseen. “ I had not transferred “faith” into the everyday world. But it is true for day to day living, too. If you don’t have faith you really have nothing. Napoleon says “A mind dominated by positive emotions, becomes a favorable abode for the state of mind known as faith. A mind so dominated may, at will, give the subconscious mind instructions, which it will accept and act upon immediately."

Our subconscious mind obeys instructions at will. If we think negative thoughts our subconscious mind will think that is what we want to happen. I remember listening to Michael Clouse explain it years ago. He basically said our thoughts and words are like the captain of a ship and our subconscious mind is like the man down in the ship carrying out the instructions. The man down below doesn’t hear the words “not” or “don’t”, or anything like that. If I were to say “I don’t want to run out of money”. All he hears is “Run out of money”. And basically says “OK”. I say “I don’t want to run out of gas.” And he hears “Run out of gas”. “OK”. He just carries out the instructions. He doesn’t analyze it or think twice about it. He just makes it happen. Needless to say, we are our own worst enemies by thinking negative thoughts. THIS is why so often our worse fears come true. We literally think our way poor or sick or….. Consequently, our thoughts and words are extremely important. This is where Napoleon comes up with the Think and Grow Rich. We are what we think about. Poor or rich, sick or well, fat or thin, etc.

Needless to say, we need to continuously have positive thoughts. We need to have faith in the belief that we can succeed in whatever we are striving for. We need to, as the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” We cannot have any negative, unproductive thoughts or the little guy down in our subconscious mind will have a hay day and make it happen. Scary thought. I want to only have positive productive thoughts and experiences in my life. I want to have faith in the positive.

Napoleon has a poem in his book. He doesn’t list the author, but it is so good, I can’t pass up sharing it here.

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will –
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!

Do you think you can? I do. I truly believe I am and will be successful. I truly believe that I have found the way to success. I truly believe Empower Network and blogging daily will be the means for me to have the desires of my heart.

SELF-CONFIDENCE FORMULA

Your chances of success in any undertaking can always be measured by your belief in yourself!!
Robert Collier

I was reading in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Chapter 3 is entitled Faith. Faith is so important in all that we do. If we don't have "faith" we don't have anything. If we don't have faith that we can do something, there is a pretty good chance we won't be able to do it.

The key to having Faith in ourselves in having positive Self Confidence. As I am working on a daily basis with people in my J-O-B I have noticed that having a negative self image and lack of self confidence is everywhere. I personally want to have a positive self image and buckets of self confidence. Truth be told I probably need a good shot of self confidence. Napoleon gave an awesome formula for Self-Confidence. Since needing more self-confidence seems to affect so many people I am going to write out Napoleon's formula. Think I will try it and see what happens. You might want to give it a shot too.

SELF-CONFIDENCE FORMULA

1. I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.

2. I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for 30 minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.

3. I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote 10 minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of SELF-CONFIDENCE.

4. I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I will never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.

5. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude towards others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them and in myself.

I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full FAITH that it will gradually influence my THOUGHTS and ACTIONS so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person.

So, do you think this will help? I sure do. This is something I plan to commit to now. I want to be successful. I want my Definite Chief Aim in Life to be a reality. I am so excited to be involved with Empower Network. Empower Network is my ticket to success and to the fulfillment of my Burning Desire. Success is just around the corner.

Are you looking for success? Do you have a Burning Desire you wish to fulfill? Empower Network just might be your ticket to success too. Why don't you try it? Just check it out. You won't be sorry.

Until next time,

Desire into Gold

The Size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way.

Robert Kiyosaki

I am continuing to read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Chapter 2 on Desire is truly amazing. Napoleon has a section on 6 Ways to Turn Desire into Gold. OK, that is something I want to learn and make part of my life. I want Gold/Riches. Don't you??
The 6 Steps are:
1. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. Be definite as to the amount.

2. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire.
3. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.
4. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not to put this plan into action.
5. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.
6. Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read - see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.
I really like this plan. I plan to do this soon, if not before. I was listening to Earl Nightingale, The Strangest Secret Ever Told tonight. He was saying basically the same thing. Both men are saying we are what we think. If we want to be a success we need to think and feel we are successful. I need to have a desire for success so entrenched in my thinking that I am acting as if I am already successful. I need to think, feel and do as if I have already arrived.
I always felt I needed to arrive before I acted successful. I felt I was lying to the world if I wasn't 100% transparent as to who I am at the moment. But if I am truly believing, than I need to act as if my desire for financial success has already come true. Desire = Reality. Reminds me of what the Bible says about having the faith of a child. Children believe just because. I have a friend on facebook that I have known for quite a while. She told the story today about a conversation she had with her daughter. "Earlier, I told Brooke we needed some rain and her response was: "Well I will just ask Jesus for some." A bit ago, I told her to come look we were getting a little rain. Her response this time: Well, yes, I asked Jesus for it you silly!" Isn't that awesome. To desire and believe like it had already happened. She wasn't surprised at all. THAT is what I want my thinking to be like.
The neat thing is that for the 1st time in a long time I have a desire and a belief that it is all possible. With Empower Network it is all possible. If I do all the steps Napoleon says and keep my focus on success, there is no way to not succeed. I am on the adventure of a life time. Sure hope you choose to come along for the ride. Desire

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.
Napoleon Hill

Last night I read Chapter 2 of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Chapter 2 is titled Desire. Napoleon says “Desire is the starting point of all achievement”. If a person does not have a burning desire they won’t stay the course.

I think, for me, in the past, I had more of a wishing type hope that I would succeed. I never really thought I would. Never truly believed I would. Although I loved some of the products I sold in other network marketing companies, I never could see myself successful. I could never see myself up on stage being one of the success stories. I have enjoyed J-O-Bs but I don’t think I have had a “burning desire”. Now I do!!! I have a burning desire to make this adventure with Empower Network succeed. I have a burning desire to get my life back. Yes, I want to retire from my job. Yes, I want to visit my kids and grandkids. Yes, I want to wake up in the morning and have choices. Bur I have to admit – my burning desire is to have the financial freedom to make those things a reality.

Last night when I was reading it was talking about burning your bridges so you couldn’t retreat. Napoleon said “Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to cut all sources of retreat. Only by doing so can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a burning desire to win - essential to success.” This is what I want. I want to burn my bridges so I have to win. I don’t want to give myself an option. I don’t want an escape plan or a Plan B. It is Plan A – Empower Network – or nothing. I will make it work.

I would love to have you along for the ride. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have us both standing there looking back and seeing the path to success that we took. Looking back and seeing that the burning desire we both had carried us through.

If that is a journey you would like to take, click on the button and start your own adventure toward having your hopes, dreams and burning desire come true. Let’s enjoy the ride together.

Until next time, have a fantastic day.

Education is the KEY

"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school"
Albert Einstein

I saw this quote today and got to thinking about education. I graduated from high school and then college years ago. My “formal” education was over at that point. For a while my learning stopped. OK, I learned things here and there. Who can help but learn some things when you have as many kids as I do. BUT, I wouldn’t consider it a type of learning that made me a better person or improved who I was. That is, until I got involved in network marketing. The 1st couple companies I got involved with – I totally sucked at. But they did encourage learning. Learning from some of the pros. I read books and listened to messages from people like Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Michael Clouse and Chris Widener. I look back and realize that because of that “learning”, I am no longer the person I was before. I have grown and matured in ways I never would have without that form of learning. This has been a practice I have continued and totally benefited from.

Since getting involved with Empower Network, they have also encouraged reading daily. It is one of the 8 core commitments. Core Commitment #7: Read Daily “Leaders Are Readers”. Not something that will be hard because I have been pre-conditioned to do it.

Today I started reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill again for the 3rd or 4th time. This book always has something awesome to learn from it. Chapter 1 – Thoughts are Things really brought back how important my thought life is. My thoughts are so powerful they will either make or break me. If I truly believe 100% within my soul that I will succeed at something, and I don’t waver, my subconscious will find a way to make it happen. The key is to have a definite major purpose, a coveted goal, a burning desire, a passion. Napoleon said “I had learned, from years of experience with men, that when a man really desires a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win.” Consequently, I need to have a definite major purpose. I need to have something that I want so badly that I can taste it. For me, my burning desire is to have the financial freedom so I can travel, take pictures and write. I want the freedom to be able to do what I want to do. For the 1st time in a long time I feel the hope that my freedom is right around the corner. With Empower Network I know it will happen. My goal is to retire from my J-O-B on or before my next birthday. Will I make it happen? You bet I will.

Do you have a dream? A goal? A burning desire? A passion? Maybe, just maybe Empower Network is your ticket to fulfilling that dream. Napoleon said in his book, “Psychologists have correctly said that “when one is truly ready for a thing, it puts in its appearance.”

Do you think maybe it just has???

Until next time,

Who is Mom8isme?

So, who am I?  Decided you needed to know who you are reading about.  My name is Charyl Hann Armstrong.  I was born and grew up in San Diego, CA.  Graduated from San Diego High School in 1967.  See, I am close to retirement age.  It will be here before I know it.  Tho I am really planning on retiring from my J-O-B as soon as possible.  Now that I have started Empower Network I feel that is a real possibility.
After high school I attended San Diego State University, earning my BA in Accounting.  Passed the CPA exam and worked accounting jobs until I became a full time stay at home mom.
This is where the Mom 8 comes in.  Over the years I became Mom to 8 kids, 4 by birth and 4 by adoption.  After Dennis and I got married I added 4 step kids.  So really I have 12 kids ages 20 to 44.  I love being a mom.  BUT I really LOVE being a grandma.  At the moment we have 15 grandkids, ages 1 ½ to 17, and we aren’t even close to being finished. The picture above is a small fraction of the family at Thanksgiving this year.
Back to work.  I worked accounting jobs off and on over the years until I got involved in the mental health field.  Some of my adopted kids struggle with mental illness.  I got involved with NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), am on the board and teach a few of their classes.  At the moment my J-O-B is in the Independent Living Field.  I am an IL Advocate for youth.  I attend a lot of IEP meetings advocating for the kids with disabilities to have all the modifications and accommodations they deserve.  It’s an OK job if a person has to work – but – I want my time back.  I want to have the freedom to do the things I want to on a daily basis.
Over the years I have been in Network Marketing.  Sold needlework, skin care and vitamins.  Nothing really jelled so quit.  Felt like I sucked at it.  I knew the model worked but just couldn’t get it to work for me.  This time everything feels different.  I finally have hope that this will work.  Good company, awesome comp plan – who can beat 100% commissions, and fantastic support.  I am going to make this work!!!
So what else would you want to know about me.  I love to travel, take pixs and write.  What better program than one that requires me to write a blog every day.
Like I said before I love being a mom and grandma and one of the biggest reasons I want to retire from my J-O-B is so that I can be an active part in my grandkids lives.  Every day I am missing things in their lives.  Before I know it they will be grown and having families of their own.  They are only going to be young once.  Family is a huge priority for me.
I don’t know where you are in your life right now but if you are like me and want a shot at freedom be sure to check out Empower Network.  It is what it says and people are making tons of money with it.  If you do the 8 core steps you can’t help but succeed.  Check it out – I am sure you will be impressed.

Have an awesome day.
